Eileen Turnbull is the Researcher and Secretary of the Shrewsbury 24 Campaign. Eileen has carried out extensive research over ten years and has obtained fresh evidence about the convictions of the Shrewsbury pickets. This has formed the basis of the pickets’ application to the Criminal Cases Review Commission. Eileen was a TUC tutor teaching shop stewards courses before becoming the Legal Officer for the GMB’s Liverpool, North Wales & Irish Region. During the 17 years in that role Eileen represented countless members at Employment, Social Security and Medical Appeal Tribunals and oversaw a number of landmark court cases of GMB members including the successful equal pay claim of the St Helens Council dinner ladies.
