Commission a project

The IER's extensive network of lawyers and academics can be commissioned to conduct the investigations of third parties.

Following 30 years of highly reputable work within the trade union movement, the IER has amassed an impressive network of experts across labour law and economics.

The IER accepts commissions to investigate and report on a wide range of issues for third parties.

Our commissioned work has included three reports into diversity in the rail industry for ASLEF; an analysis of copyright law for the Creators’ Rights Alliance; and an investigation into the dynamics between corporate law and workers’ rights in a globalised market for the Service Employees International Union.

We also provided a thorough report into bogus self-employment for UCATT long before the term ‘gig economy’ had entered into public discourse; produced an influential publication on blacklisting following The Consulting Association scandal; and contributed to the policies of the Scottish National Party and Labour Party in the Workers’ (Definition and Rights) Bill, the Trade Union Freedom Bill, and two Labour Party manifestos in 2017 and 2019.
