About our podcast

As many of our readers will know, the IER have been informing the debate on improving and strengthening labour laws for workers over the last 30 years. This body of work (undertaken on a voluntary basis by our labour law academics and lawyers) provided the blueprint for Labour’s green paper on employment rights, New Deal for Workers document, their National Policy Forum document, and their ‘Making Work Pay’ proposals, which were brought to life by the Government’s Employment Rights Bill – now the Employment Rights Act 2025.

In October 2024, the IER launched our own podcast to start examining the then Employment Rights Bill. In season 2 we followed the Act, pointing out what was in it, what was missing, and where the labour movement needed to go next to improve employment rights, to arrest and reverse the political managed decline of trade union membership.

In September 2026, we are now launching the third season of our podcast. Our experts will continue to  examine the commitments, impacts and gaps in the Employment Rights Act, as well as topical industrial and legal issues that affect the labour movement.

Tune in, and join the debate.
