New Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) Judge Appointed
Jack Feeny appointed to be Circuit Judge of the Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) with effect from 7th September 2026
The Lady Chief Justice of England, Baroness Carr, has appointed Jack Feeny to be a Resident Circuit Judge of the Employment Appeal Tribunal with effect from the 7th September 2026.
HHJ Feeny, as he will be known, has been a fee paid judge since 2021 as well as a barrister at No5 Chambers.
The President of the Employment Appeal Tribunal has made the following announcement:
I am delighted to be able to announce that, following a JAC competition in August 2025, Jack Feeny has been appointed as a Resident Circuit Judge of the Employment Appeal Tribunal. Jack will join our current cohort of four Resident Judges (the President, Senior Circuit Judges Auerbach and Tayler and Circuit Judge Joffe).
Jack was called at the Bar in 2005 and quickly developed a specialism in high value and complex employment cases involving, amongst other matters, discrimination, whistle-blowing and TUPE. He was on the Attorney General’s A panel for government work and appeared regularly in the EAT and the Court of Appeal. He has also sat as a fee-paid Employment Judge.
On behalf of all the judges and staff of the EAT, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Jack and to say that we are all very much looking forward to working with him.
I am also very pleased to announce that Senior Circuit Judges Auerbach and Tayler have each agreed to take on the title of Deputy Presidents of the EAT. The title “Deputy President” is a recognition of the significant work that Simon and James have de facto undertaken for some time in providing support to the President and assisting in the day to day running of the EAT”.
