Grievance seminar
Grievance seminar

Tuesday 22 March 2011

The focus of the seminar was the meaning of the ACAS Code an analysis of the current BIS consultation and the wider implications of grievances at work. The BIS Consultation closes on 20th April.

About the conference

Keith Mizon of ACAS opened the seminar primarily articulating the meaning of the Code and its use; secondly on the controversial BIS consultation and the changes it would declare in the workplace; and thirdly on the outlook for resolution of grievances.

Prof Roger Seifert of Wolverhampton University provided a broad but intense critique of the place of grievance procedures in the workplace in his presentation On Having A Grievance, Feeling Aggrieved, and Grieving

Iain Birrell of Thompsons Solicitors rounded up the contributions of the day and provided a comprehensive examination of the law and demonstrated the ACAS Codes of Practice.

NB the old DRC codes which Iain advised delegates to use have now actually been replaced.
