Officers of the Institute

Honorary Life President

Jim Mortimer has been involved in the Institute since its inauguration in 1989 during which time he has been an EC member, a Vice President and in 2009 was made an Honorary Life President.

President

Professor Keith Ewing is Professor of Public Law at King's College London. He has written extensively on labour law including recognition procedures and international standards

 

 

 

Chairman

John Hendy QC is a leading employment law barrister, operating from Old Square Chambers London, and H P Higgins Chambers in Sydney Australia. He is also vice-chairman of the International Centre for Trade Union Rights (ICTUR)and Joint Secretary to the United Campaign for the Repeal of Anti Trade Union Laws. John is standing counsel to UNITE, ASLEF,CWU, NUJ, NUM, POA, RMT and UCU.

 

 

Treasurer

Geoffrey D Shears (Thompsons) is the Chief Executive Officer of Thompsons, the largest trades union and personal injury law firm in the United Kingdom. The firm is committed to the trades union movement and has offices in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

 

 

 

Director

Carolyn Jones has been the Institute's Director since its foundation in 1989.
