New speakers from the CWU, TUC and UNITE have been announced for the IER’s launch of its new Manifesto for Labour Law at Westminster on Tuesday 28 June.
The event marks the publication of 25 policy recommendations for the next Labour government designed to inform labour law in 2020 and provide a viable and sustainable alternative to neoliberalism. The proposals are the result of a collaboration between 15 leading labour lawyers and academics from some of the UK’s most prestigious universities to draft a new Manifesto for Labour Law, which seeks to ameliorate the UK’s enormous wage gap and improve the productivity of the UK economy by giving workers a voice.
Dave Ward, General Secretary of the Communications Workers Union (CWU); Hannah Reed of the Trade Union Congress (TUC); and Gail Cartmail of UNITE have joined the platform, which already features key speakers from the Labour Party, including Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell and Shadow Minister for Trade Unions Ian Lavery; and the General Secretaries of the FBU, BFAWU and NUT.
The launch is free to attend and we expected a high turnout, so we encourage all interested parties to register their attendance on our EventBrite page so as to avoid disappointment on the night.
