A TUC poll of 3,000 voters after the election has found “strong support” for workers’ rights is driving Conservative voters towards the Labour Party.
Across all voters, 76% are in support of an end to the public sector pay cap. Even when respondents are limited to Conservative, 68% back the lifting of the freeze.
Of the Tory voters who said they were considering switching to the Labour Party, 80% back an end to the public sector pay cap, 75% support a £10 an hour minimum wage, and 76% want to see a ban on zero hour contracts.
The Labour Party’s workers’ rights manifesto used the Institute of Employment Rights’ Manifesto for Labour Law as a blueprint, including many of our key proposals such as reinstating sectoral collective bargaining systems, repealing the Trade Union Act 2016, and strengthening statutory rights such as the minimum wage.
